Trezeguet Out for Four Weeks Due to Hamstring Injury

Mahmoud Hassan “Trezeguet” has suffered a torn hamstring and will be sidelined for four weeks, Saudi club Al-Riyadh announced on Wednesday via their official account on “X”.

The Egyptian international sustained the injury in Al-Riyadh’s clash with Al-Khaleej on Monday in the sixth round of the Saudi Roshn League. His night ended in distressing fashion: he went down early, tried to continue, then left the pitch in tears in the 13th minute.

Subsequent medical examinations confirmed the worst fears — a hamstring tear. Al-Riyadh have allowed the winger to return to Cairo, where he will continue his rehabilitation under the supervision of Egypt’s national team medical staff.

For Hossam Hassan and Egypt, it is a heavy setback.

Upcoming Fixtures

The national team’s next camp is due to start on 17 September, and Trezeguet will not be part of it. His recovery timeline rules him out of Egypt’s opening fixtures in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, stripping the Pharaohs of one of their most seasoned attacking weapons just as the campaign begins.
