Denmark's Brian Riemer Confirms Patrick Dorgu Injury Withdrawal from National Squad

Manchester United defender Patrick Dorgu has pulled out of the Denmark national team because of an injury, causing frustration for head coach Brian Riemer. The young United player left the squad after limping off during Denmark's recent 2-0 Nations League win against Wales.

Injury Woes Deepen for Denmark

The Danish squad is struggling with multiple injuries that have left Riemer facing a tough selection dilemma. Dorgu's exit on Sunday evening adds to a list of key absentees including Andreas Christensen, Alexander Bah, Albert Gronbaek, and Kasper Dolberg, all sidelined since the squad was first named.

"We're sending him home now, he's out and won't be ready for next week. Further examinations will determine how long he will be sidelined," Riemer told Bold.

Dorgu's Injury Reduces Denmark's Tactical Options

Losing Dorgu affects Denmark's flexibility on the left flank where his versatility had been important. Riemer admitted the squad lacks depth in certain areas and that the remaining players are showing signs of fatigue due to increased demands.

"I have never experienced anything like this. Seven or eight players who would normally be in a 23-man squad are missing. They've either gone home or never arrived. Now Dorgu is out too. It's very frustrating," Riemer said on TV2.

Possible Replacements Being Considered

Faced with dwindling options, Riemer plans to call up replacements to cover the wings. He is evaluating candidates, including experienced players and those performing well abroad, who can quickly fit into the team and handle the pressure.

"It could be Anders Dreyer or Andreas Skov Olsen, who's started well in Turkey, or possibly a younger player," Riemer explained to Bold.

Rasmus Hojlund Shares His Concern

Rasmus Hojlund expressed sympathy for Dorgu’s situation, emphasizing his importance to the squad and the disappointment his absence would cause. He noted the impact losing such a player could have both on Denmark and on his former club.

"I think it's a shame. We have a big profile in him, and he's also important for my former club. If he's out long-term, that's obviously a big blow," Hojlund told TV2.
