Italy’s Giacomo Raspadori Withdraws from Nations League Ahead of France Clash
Giacomo Raspadori will miss Italy's upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against France and Turkiye. The Atalanta forward has officially withdrawn from the squad after medical checks showed he is unfit to play.
Injury Forces Early Exit
The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) announced on Tuesday evening that Raspadori will return to his club following assessments by the national team’s medical staff. His withdrawal comes after he was forced off at halftime during Italy's recent 4-1 victory over Turkiye, adding to concerns already raised by Nicolo Zaniolo's earlier departure from the camp.
"Giacomo Raspadori was given complete rest. He underwent medical tests and, after confirmation that he would be unavailable for the upcoming matches, will head back to his club," the FIGC stated.
Impact on Italy’s Preparations
Raspadori’s absence means he will miss Friday’s high-profile match against Zinedine Zidane’s France at Stade de France, as well as Italy’s home game against Turkiye in Bologna on October 5. Despite this setback, the team remains upbeat following their dominant win in Bursa.
Coach Roberto Mancini has adjusted training plans at Coverciano, splitting players into groups to manage fitness levels. Those who played heavily in the previous match are focusing on recovery, while others engage in tactical drills at Fiorentina’s Viola Park, working on attack-versus-defence scenarios to keep the squad sharp for the upcoming fixtures.
Forward Line Challenges Ahead
Italy’s attacking efficiency has been under scrutiny lately, even with the convincing win over Turkiye. Losing a forward known for his technical skills and movement complicates things for Mancini, who now faces the decision of whether to call up a new player or make do with the current squad depth.
