Spinazzola Injury Adds to Napoli’s Challenges Ahead of Fiorentina Match

Napoli’s preparations for Sunday’s lunchtime clash at Fiorentina have taken another hit, with Leonardo Spinazzola ruled out through injury.

The club confirmed on Friday that the experienced full-back did not train with the squad after suffering a mild strain to the hamstring in his right thigh. Tests and workload management kept him on the sidelines, and multiple Italian outlets, including Il Mattino and Sky, report that the Italy international will not be part of the travelling party to Florence for the 12:30 CET (11:30 BST) kick-off.

It is another setback for a squad already patched together.

Napoli also revealed that Frank Zambo Anguissa continues to work separately from the group, a clear sign he is highly unlikely to feature against Fiorentina. The midfielder’s ongoing absence strips the team of one of its most powerful engines in the centre of the pitch.

Unavailable Players

The list of players unavailable for the trip is long and unforgiving: Alessandro Buongiorno, Luca Marianucci, Scott McTominay, Giovane, Alex Meret and Alisson Santos will all remain out. Defensive options are thinner, midfield rotations are limited, and even the goalkeeping department is affected.

The timing could hardly be more delicate. Napoli finally stopped the rot last weekend with a narrow but vital 1-0 win over Bologna at the Stadio Maradona, snapping a run of three straight defeats in all competitions. That result offered a glimpse of stability, a chance to rebuild confidence.

Now they head to Florence with momentum on one side and a depleted squad on the other.
