Rhian Brewster to Miss Two Matches After Concussion

Derby County will be without forward Rhian Brewster for at least the next two matches after the striker suffered concussion in their 3-0 defeat by West Ham United.

The 26-year-old lasted only 22 minutes of Saturday’s Championship loss before being forced off, a setback for a player just beginning to build rhythm after a disrupted spell in his career. He has featured in all five of Derby’s league fixtures this season, starting the last two as John Eustace looked to play him into form.

Manager's Comments

Eustace, speaking to BBC Radio Derby, did not hide his frustration at the timing of the injury.

"He's feeling a lot better, he was really groggy on Saturday night, he felt dizzy and sick during the game," the Rams boss said. "It's a big blow because I was really excited to give him a run of games - he's a top performer at this level and he needs to get fit and get games under his belt so it's a shame now for him to miss another couple."

Concussion protocols mean Brewster will sit out at least the next two fixtures as Derby try to steady themselves after the heavy defeat. The club now head into a key home test against West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday, 9 September (19:45 BST), knowing they must adjust quickly without a forward they had planned to build around in the opening phase of the season.
