PSG's Tactical Changes for Lille Match

Paris Saint-Germain head to Lille on Friday night still searching for their first Ligue 1 win of the season, and Luis Enrique is ready to rip up a chunk of his opening-day blueprint to find it.

A 2-2 draw at home to Rennes in the first matchweek left a flat aftertaste for the champions. They created, they reacted, but they did not convince. Now comes a tougher assignment in the north – and a very different-looking XI.

Defensive reshuffle on the flanks

Nuno Mendes remains unavailable through injury, so there is no return for the Portuguese full-back yet. That does not mean the left side stays untouched.

Lucas Digne is expected to come in at left-back, replacing Lucas Hernández. It is a straight swap but a clear signal: more natural width, more thrust down that flank.

On the opposite side, the change is bolder. Warren Zaïre-Emery is set to be deployed as an unorthodox right-back in place of Achraf Hakimi. The teenager’s engine and intelligence have already made him a central figure in midfield; now he is being asked to stretch his game again, starting attacks from deeper and wider.

Behind them, Matvei Safonov keeps his place in goal, with Marquinhos and Willian Pacho continuing as the central defensive pairing.

Midfield tweak for balance

The shake-up continues in the middle. Lucas Beraldo is expected to start, taking the spot of Vitinha. That adjustment points to a slightly different balance in midfield: more physical presence, more bite between the lines, and a platform for PSG’s creators to roam.

Beraldo should join João Neves and Fabián Ruiz in a three-man midfield, a blend of control, work rate and passing range designed to cope with Lille’s intensity and transitions.

Dembélé rested, Torres rewarded

Up front, one of the headline calls is the decision to rest Ousmane Dembélé. The winger started against Rennes but will sit this one out, with Ferran Torres set for his full debut.

Torres could hardly have made a stronger case. Coming off the bench last time out, he struck twice to drag PSG to that 2-2 draw. Now he is rewarded with a starting role, a quick elevation from impact substitute to focal point of the attack.

He is expected to line up alongside Désiré Doué and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, giving PSG a front three rich in movement and technical craft, even without Dembélé.
