Paul Pogba's stint at Monaco looks like it will end soon after the midfielder suffered another thigh injury. The French player has struggled since returning from a doping ban, and this recent setback appears to have sealed his fate at the club.

Monaco’s Decision on Pogba’s Contract

Reports from L'Equipe reveal that Monaco is planning to terminate Pogba's contract after he injured his left thigh during a training session. He collapsed in pain during a small-sided game at St George’s Park, prompting the club to move forward with ending his deal.

The club had already informed Pogba weeks ago about their intention to part ways, allowing him to look for a new team. Now both sides aim to agree on a financial settlement, with Pogba reportedly earning under £44,000 per week.

A Troubled Comeback

Pogba returned to football in March 2025 after a doping ban was reduced on appeal. He joined Monaco after mutually ending his contract with Juventus, hoping to revive his career. Unfortunately, persistent injuries hampered his progress.

Monaco viewed pre-season as vital to gauge his fitness, but Pogba only managed 45 minutes in a 5-2 friendly win over Saint-Priest on July 18. A right knee issue then sidelined him for four matches before this recent thigh injury struck. He had just rejoined full training last Friday, aiming to get back on track.

Club Officials Speak Out

The club's management has shown respect throughout this ordeal, but disappointment is clear. General manager Thiago Scuro openly acknowledged the situation during a press conference, admitting the project with Pogba didn’t go as planned. Scuro stated:

"The truth is that the project (with Pogba) did not work well last season. When we started it, the expectations we had were very different. Is he likely to leave? Yes, of course."

Pogba once described his signing as a lifeline, telling Daily Mail Sport: "We went through hell. A time of darkness. But this is my second chance, I have to use it." Sadly, that opportunity now seems to be slipping away.
