Konrad Laimer Injury Scare in Bayern Munich Friendly
Konrad Laimer gave Bayern Munich an early scare as he hobbled off with a right-leg injury during their friendly against last season’s third-placed Bundesliga side.
The Austria international went down after a challenge, immediately clutching his leg. Replays offered no clarity: knee, thigh, or both – the pictures left the exact problem unanswered. What was obvious was the pain. Laimer grimaced on the turf as medical staff rushed to him.
Two Bayern staff members supported him as he left the pitch, his right leg quickly wrapped in a bandage. The 29-year-old’s night was over inside nine minutes.
Vincent Kompany turned to Sacha Boey as an early replacement, a curious twist given the full-back is still widely expected to leave the club before the transfer window closes. For now, though, Boey was back in Bayern colours, thrown into a game that had suddenly taken on a more anxious tone.
Upcoming Fixtures
This fixture is Bayern’s penultimate warm-up before the season’s first real test: the Super Cup showdown with Borussia Dortmund on Saturday week. After that, the German champions face 1. FC Heidenheim from the second tier on Tuesday.
With competitive action looming and squad decisions still to be made, Bayern now wait for the one thing they can’t control from the touchline: the diagnosis on Konrad Laimer’s right leg.
