Khephren Thuram Faces Knee Surgery Decision Amid Juventus Setback

Khephren Thuram’s stop-start Juventus career has hit a serious early setback, with the midfielder left out of the squad for this evening’s Serie A clash against Parma and now facing a key decision on knee surgery next week.

The Frenchman has been struggling with patellofemoral syndrome since the end of last season, an issue that never really eased over the summer. He spent most of pre-season working away from the main group and already missed Juve’s opening league game against Frosinone.

Now the situation has escalated.

Thuram has not been called up for the Parma match at the Allianz Stadium and could be sidelined for a considerable spell. According to reports from Sky Sport and Gazzetta, he will travel to France next week for a consultation with renowned knee specialist Bertrand Sonnery Cottet, who will help determine whether surgery is necessary.

Sonnery Cottet is a familiar name for Juventus. He previously operated on Gleison Bremer, dealing with cruciate ligament and meniscus problems, and on Federico Gatti for a meniscus issue. Thuram may be the next Bianconero on that list.

The concern is already palpable inside the club. At his press conference on Friday, Juventus coach Luciano Spalletti did not attempt to downplay the situation, admitting he was “very worried” about Thuram’s condition.
