Juventus Faces Injury Crisis as Locatelli Undergoes Surgery
Juventus rocked as Locatelli undergoes surgery and Boga ruled out
The injury list in Turin is no longer a concern. It’s a full-blown crisis.
Juventus confirmed on Monday that Manuel Locatelli has undergone knee surgery, while Jeremie Boga faces several weeks on the sidelines with a thigh problem, stripping even more depth from an already depleted squad.
Locatelli blow could rule him out until 2027
The key midfielder suffered a meniscus tear in his right knee during Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Milan at the Allianz Stadium, a match in which he had been at the heart of Juventus’ play before going down.
A club statement revealed that Locatelli travelled to Lyon for an operation to suture the external meniscus. The procedure was successful, but the timeline is brutal: Sky Sport Italia reports that his absence could stretch to five or even six months.
That projection would keep Locatelli out until deep into the season and possibly into 2027, ripping out one of the central pillars of Juventus’ midfield just as the campaign begins to intensify.
Boga adds to growing absentee list
As if that weren’t enough, Jeremie Boga has also been sidelined. The winger has been diagnosed with a medium-grade lesion to the femoral bicep in his left thigh, another muscular issue in a squad already stretched to breaking point.
Juventus’ medical staff will re-evaluate Boga in two weeks after fresh tests, but the initial outlook is clear: he is expected to be unavailable for at least a month, with the club braced for an absence of around five weeks.
His pace and direct running will be missed in a side already stripped of attacking options.
A squad under strain
Locatelli and Boga join a lengthy injury list that already includes Kenan Yildiz, Khephren Thuram, Weston McKennie, Jeff Ekhator, Juan Cabal, Andrea Cambiaso and Pape Matar Sarr, all absent for the recent clash with Milan.
What began as a tricky spell of fitness issues has turned into a serious test of Juventus’ depth and resilience. With key fixtures stacking up and the season still young, the question now is simple: how long can they keep competing at the top while so many of their core players watch from the treatment room?
