"There is great bitterness, because I understand the desire to go and win the game, because we are Juventus and it is our obligation to aim for victory every time, but we lost our balance and we talked all week about this," the 29-year-old said, blunt and unforgiving.

He did not spare the badge.

"Juventus cannot concede two goals like that. This is a club with a glorious history and we cannot allow goals like that. We need to be more calm and balanced, because we have a team full of quality, and we will be able to create chances."

The message was simple: ambition is non-negotiable, but so is control. Juventus chased the win and forgot the basics they had spent days drilling.

No hiding behind injuries

This collapse comes at a time when Juventus are already carrying scars. Key players are missing, none more important than captain Manuel Locatelli. The midfielder faces four to six months out after meniscus surgery, a long, painful absence that rips a hole in the heart of the team.

Yet Vicario refused to lean on that as a crutch.

"We're sad to be losing Manuel, but it’s a long-term injury, and we do have players of quality in the squad. We can’t just keep seeking excuses," he insisted.

Asked whether the dressing room felt more anger or regret after this latest collapse, Vicario did not pick a side.

"In my view both, because we had managed to turn the tide in our favour. We must be able to control these moments of the match better, because we’ve got the quality," he said.

Quality is not the question. Juventus showed enough of it to come back twice. The question now is whether they can finally match that talent with the tactical maturity their goalkeeper keeps demanding – or whether more nights like this are waiting just around the corner.
