Jim Goodwin Returns to Dundee United Dugout After Medical Absence

Jim Goodwin will return to the Dundee United dugout this weekend after a three-week medical absence that briefly halted his season on the touchline.

The 44-year-old was admitted to hospital at the end of August with an undisclosed condition and spent the opening weeks of the campaign away from day-to-day duties. He was discharged and returned home on 1 September, watching from a distance as his side tried to keep their footing without him.

Goodwin took in the recent draw with Falkirk from the stands, leaving assistant Lee Sharp to direct operations from the technical area. Sharp has steadied the ship with a perfectly balanced run in the Scottish Premiership: one win, one defeat, one draw since his manager fell ill.

Now the reins go back to the Irishman. Goodwin is scheduled to handle pre-match media duties on Friday ahead of Saturday’s Premiership meeting with St Mirren at Tannadice, a fixture that will mark his full return to front-line responsibility.
