Inter return to a familiar hunting ground on Sunday night, walking into the Unipol Domus as champions, in form, and with history firmly on their side.

Cagliari haven’t beaten the Nerazzurri in Serie A for 13 meetings. They haven’t kept a clean sheet against them in 20. Every recent chapter of this fixture has tilted the same way – blue and black, dominant and ruthless.

Chivu trusted him from the start alongside Lautaro Martínez at San Siro, with Thuram and Ange-Freddy Bonny held in reserve. That selection said plenty. Esposito isn’t just a cameo option; he’s fighting for a regular place in the XI.
