Harry Wilson Faces Injury Setback Ahead of Wales' Nations League Campaign

Harry Wilson is facing a race against time to be fit for the start of Wales’ Nations League campaign, dealing Craig Bellamy an early headache ahead of their return to League A.

The Leeds United forward had been named in Bellamy’s squad for a demanding triple-header against Portugal, Denmark and Norway in September and October. Those plans are now under serious threat.

Leeds boss Daniel Farke revealed on Friday that Wilson has suffered a quadriceps muscle injury and will miss Sunday’s Premier League clash at Elland Road against Crystal Palace.

“Harry Wilson is out of this game, a quad injury, he reported some problems after the last game and also during this training week,” Farke said of the 29-year-old, who has 69 caps and 17 goals for Wales.

The diagnosis stretches beyond club level.

“He will also probably miss the Welsh games, so definitely not good news for him and also not for the Welsh team,” Farke added.

For Bellamy, preparing to lead Wales back into the top tier of the Nations League, losing one of his most experienced attacking options at this stage would be a brutal early setback.
