Eli Junior Kroupi Shortlisted for Men’s Young Talent of the Year

Eli Junior Kroupi’s rise has been paused, not stopped.

The Bournemouth forward has been shortlisted for the Men’s Young Talent of the Year award ahead of the 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony, recognition of a breakout season that turned heads across the Premier League.

Kroupi, 20, is one of three Premier League names in a 10-man list, joining Manchester City’s Ayyoub Bouaddi and Aston Villa’s Johan Manzambi among Europe’s most highly rated youngsters.

He only arrived on the scene last August. Once he did, he barely left it.

After making his Bournemouth debut in August 2025, Kroupi went on to rack up 35 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring 13 goals. His impact was immediate, his numbers emphatic.

By the end of the 2025-26 campaign, no teenager had scored more goals in their debut Premier League season. Not one. For a club fighting to establish itself firmly in the division, his finishing and fearlessness offered a new edge in the final third.

This season, though, has brought a different kind of test. A foot injury in pre-season, followed by surgery, has kept him sidelined and delayed his momentum just as his name was beginning to echo beyond the south coast. He has yet to feature in the current campaign, with his return pencilled in for October or November.

The timing of the injury is cruel; the timing of the nomination is telling. Even from the treatment room, his work over those first 12 months still carries enough weight to put him among the elite of his age group.

The Men’s Young Talent of the Year award will be one of the honours handed out at the 70th Ballon d’Or ceremony in London on Monday, 26 October — a stage built for established stars, now making room for a Bournemouth forward whose story is only just getting started.
