Eli Junior Kroupi Shortlisted for Men's Young Talent of the Year

Eli Junior Kroupi’s breakout year has been given global recognition.

The Bournemouth forward has been shortlisted for the Men's Young Talent of the Year award ahead of the 2026 Ballon d'Or ceremony, a nod to a debut season that tore up expectations on the south coast.

At 20, Kroupi stands among elite company. He is one of three Premier League players in the 10-man list, joined by Manchester City's Ayyoub Bouaddi and Aston Villa's Johan Manzambi, underlining the league’s growing pool of young stars.

Kroupi only made his Bournemouth debut in August 2025. From there, he accelerated. Thirty-five appearances. Thirteen goals. Across all competitions, he became a central figure in Bournemouth’s attack rather than a prospect waiting his turn.

The numbers inside the league were even more striking. By the end of the 2025-26 campaign, he had scored more goals than any other teenager in their debut Premier League season. Not just promising—record-setting.

Right now, though, his rise is on pause. A foot injury in pre-season, followed by surgery, has kept him out of action so far this term. Bournemouth expect him back in October or November, a timeline that turns his recovery into one of the club’s most closely watched stories of the autumn.

The Men's Young Talent of the Year award will be one of the honours handed out at the 70th Ballon d'Or ceremony in London on Monday, 26 October. By then, Kroupi may be back on the pitch, trying to prove that last season was only the opening act.
