David Alaba Set to Join Udinese in Surprising Serie A Transfer

David Alaba, the seasoned defender formerly of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, is close to signing with Serie A club Udinese. Now a free agent after his contract with Real Madrid expired last season, the Austrian veteran looks ready to start a fresh chapter in Italy.

Agreement Reached with Udinese

At 34 years old, Alaba has reportedly agreed verbally to join Udinese, according to football journalist Fabrizio Romano. His deal with Real Madrid ended at the close of June, freeing him up to negotiate with clubs across Europe without restrictions.

This transfer would come as a surprise given Alaba’s history with top clubs, but it also signals an exciting opportunity for both player and club. His experience and versatility are expected to strengthen Udinese’s defense immediately.

Romano Confirms Progress on the Deal

Romano shared the update on X, noting that formalities are underway to finalize the move. After positive talks, attention has shifted to completing the administrative steps before the contract is signed.

Once all legal details are sorted, the transfer will be officially announced, making Alaba an official member of the Serie A side.

Adding Experience and Success to Udinese

Alaba brings a remarkable track record to Udinese. Throughout his career, he has won the UEFA Champions League four times and claimed ten Bundesliga titles. During his spell at Real Madrid, he made 132 appearances across competitions, scoring five goals and assisting nine. Last season, he played 16 games before leaving the club.

Earlier this summer, there were reports that other Italian giants such as Inter Milan, AC Milan, and Juventus had been offered a chance to sign him. Ultimately, it was Udinese who stepped forward to secure his services.

Ready to Join Serie A Immediately

Since Alaba is unattached, he can be registered by Udinese instantly, unaffected by transfer window deadlines. Fans of the club are now eagerly awaiting the official announcement so they can see him in the black and white colors of Udinese.
