Cuca Considers Neymar's Participation on Synthetic Turf

Santos head coach Cuca has made it clear: any decision on Neymar’s involvement on synthetic turf will not be his alone.

With questions swirling over whether the forward will feature at Palmeiras’ Allianz Parque, Cuca underlined that the call will be collective, and cautious. Speaking to ESPN Brazil, he laid out the process.

"I will talk to him and we will make our decisions. With him and the entire squad. We'll determine what is best to do."

Neymar, though, has never hidden how he feels about artificial pitches. His frustration hardened last year after he aggravated an ankle problem against Atletico Mineiro. He took that anger straight to social media, leaving no room for interpretation.

So when he was stopped in the mixed zone and asked about the possibility of playing at Palmeiras’ home, the reaction was instant, almost weary.

"Man, are you already thinking about that? Calm down, there's a game on Sunday. I don't know [if I'll play on synthetic turf]."

No promise. No outright refusal. Just a reminder of the schedule and a lingering doubt over the surface.

His view of Allianz Parque has been consistent, and brutally honest. For Neymar, the issue goes beyond any single injury and cuts to what he believes a top-level pitch should be.

"Playing at Allianz, for me, is impossible. Playing on a 7-a-side surface is something that bothers any player, regardless of injuries. Morumbi is very good, and I feel better there. I feel good on that pitch."
