Camilo Duran's Impact on Celtic's Victory Against Falkirk

Camilo Duran offered Celtic exactly what they needed: a sharp edge and a little bit of healing.

Days after their European setback, the Colombian striker stepped into his favoured central role in place of the injured Kasper Hogh and promptly took the game away from Falkirk with two classic centre-forward finishes in a 2-1 win.

Given the nod through the middle, Duran wasted no time justifying the decision. His movement dragged Falkirk’s defence around from the first whistle, and he struck twice inside 29 minutes, both goals coming from the kind of instinctive positioning Celtic have been crying out for.

He was not content with just scoring. Duran repeatedly slipped team-mates into promising areas, turning the first half into a procession of chances that Celtic somehow failed to convert. The hosts could easily have been out of sight by the interval, such was their dominance and the volume of opportunities created around their in-form No 9.

From there, the pattern flipped again. Celtic pinned Falkirk back, hunting the goal that would kill off the contest. Duran remained at the heart of everything, linking play and occupying defenders, but this time the finishing touch deserted the hosts.

They did not score again. They did not need to. On a night when the performance still carried traces of European frustration, Duran’s double and relentless display through the middle hinted at something more important for the weeks ahead: a focal point Celtic can build around when the stakes rise again.
