Ajax Fans Demand Change as Gloukh Struggles Against PSV

The scoreboard says one thing. The Johan Cruyff Arena says something very different.

Ajax and PSV are trading blows in a tight first half, but the noise from the stands is aimed almost entirely at one man: Oscar Gloukh.

Gloukh under fire

Given another chance on the left wing in one of the biggest fixtures of Ajax’s season, the Israeli has looked like a player trapped in his own frustration. His shots have been smothered, his attacking threat minimal. When Ajax lose the ball, his problems grow.

The tension snapped in the 27th minute. Sergiño Dest, his direct opponent, simply ran off him down the flank. Gloukh didn’t go with him. Guus Til suddenly found himself in a dangerous pocket in front of goal, only to lash his effort high over the bar. The chance was wasted, but the anger in Amsterdam wasn’t.

On ESPN, commentator Vincent Schildkamp did not hold back as cameras caught Gloukh’s reaction. “Now Gloukh is basically just giving up and gesturing to his team-mates: ‘Yes, I’m not going to get there anymore. You have to sort it out,’” he observed. “Gloukh simply does not have the lungs to keep up with Dest all evening either.”

That line hit home with a support already on edge.

Fans turn on the winger

Ajax fans have shown little patience for any physical shortcomings. Social media filled quickly with calls for an immediate change.

“Take Gloukh off now,” read one typical reaction. Another went harder: “This is truly disgraceful. Gloukh is one of the worst players I have seen at Ajax.”

The verdict is brutal and, for now, almost unanimous. Every misplaced touch, every lost duel, feeds the narrative that he is out of his depth on a night when margins are thin and every sprint matters.

Ouazane chants grow louder

As Gloukh struggles, one name keeps surfacing: Abdellah Ouazane.

The 17-year-old has impressed in recent weeks, and the crowd have not forgotten. Many are openly demanding to see him from the bench, convinced he would bring more energy and edge on the flank.

“Why isn’t Ouazane playing? He is five times the player Gloukh is, surely,” one supporter writes. Another adds: “Gloukh off for a quick shower and bring Ouazane on.”

The match itself remains finely poised. In the stands, though, the debate feels settled. All that’s left is the coach’s decision: stick with a struggling starter, or throw a teenage talent into the fire of Ajax v PSV and see if he can change the mood in Amsterdam.
