Yan Diomande Remains Committed to PSG Amid Premier League Interest

Paris Saint-Germain have not won this race yet, but everyone involved is starting to act as if they know the ending.

Across the past week, representatives of Yan Diomande have taken calls from Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City. All three pushed, all three asked the same question: is there still a chance?

The answer has not changed. Diomande wants Paris.

PSG close in as Al-Khelaifi steps in

PSG are driving hard to finish one of the standout deals of the summer, and this one has moved beyond routine recruitment work. Club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has personally taken charge of negotiations with Red Bull as the European champions try to prise the Ivorian winger from Leipzig.

His long-standing relationship with Red Bull’s hierarchy has smoothed the path. Those close to the talks believe an agreement is edging into sight, with Leipzig already having accepted internally that Diomande is on his way to the Parc des Princes.

Earlier this month, Leipzig tested a different route: a sale now, a loan back for another season. It would have suited their planning, kept a star in the Bundesliga for one more year and banked a huge fee.

Luis Enrique was having none of it.

The PSG head coach has been clear – he wants Diomande in his dressing room this summer, not the next one. The club have backed that stance and are prepared to pay around €110million (£93.5m, $126m) to get the teenager in immediately.

Premier League pressure, same response

That kind of figure usually invites games. Not this time.

Sources insist Red Bull are not using the late Premier League interest to drive the price up. Talks with PSG are running on their own track, independent of the calls from England.

Liverpool have been the most persistent English suitors and are refusing to completely step away. The club have kept a steady line of communication open with Diomande’s camp, hoping for any sign of a twist – a delay, a breakdown, a change of heart in Paris – that might crack the door open.

So far, nothing.

Arsenal have re-entered the picture after being caught cold in their failed pursuit of Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers. The Gunners had tracked Diomande throughout the summer, but missing out on their primary attacking target forced them to act. Fresh enquiries went in. The response mirrored Liverpool’s.

Manchester City have also come back to the table. With Savinho expected to complete his move to Tottenham Hotspur, City are still hunting another wide attacker and have made it clear they are ready to move fast if Diomande’s stance shifts.

Yet each of the three Premier League clubs has been met with the same firm line: the player’s focus is locked on PSG.

Image rights wrinkle, but no alarm

Both PSG and Leipzig are aware of complications stemming from Diomande’s recent change of representation. Discussions are ongoing around aspects of his image rights following the switch in agents, a familiar modern snag in mega-deals of this size.

Those involved remain confident the issue will not derail the transfer. It is a detail to be ironed out, not a fault line threatening to split the agreement.

So the situation is set.

Negotiations are moving into their final stretch. PSG are determined to land one of the headline transfers of the window. Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City are still hovering, still asking the question.

Unless something dramatic breaks late, the answer will stay the same: next season, Yan Diomande is expected to be playing his football under Luis Enrique in Paris.
