Watford Sign Iker Bravo: Young Forward from Udinese

Watford have moved to sharpen their attack with the signing of Spain Under-21 forward Iker Bravo from Udinese on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

It is a transfer that fits a clear profile. Young, technically schooled, already tested in several of Europe’s most demanding environments – and with a recent winner’s medal to back it up.

Bravo, 21, arrives at Vicarage Road fresh from being named player of the tournament as Spain lifted the 2024 Uefa Under-19 Championship. That accolade did not come from nowhere. His path runs through some of the most prestigious talent factories in the game.

Raised in Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, Bravo left Spain as a teenager to join Bayer Leverkusen in 2021, a move that underlined how highly he was rated across the continent. From there, he spent time on loan at Real Madrid B, absorbing another layer of elite education in a club where the standards rarely dip.

Udinese picked him up in 2024, and while his numbers in Serie A – 37 appearances and three goals – are modest on paper, they tell only part of the story. He played, he learned, he adapted to one of Europe’s most tactical leagues.

Watford believe the real return is still to come.

“Iker is a promising young talent,” said Watford group technical director Gian Luca Nani. “His development at Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen and with the Spanish national teams speaks for itself. We are confident he will be a valuable addition to the squad and bring new attacking options to the team.”

That last line is the key. Watford have not just bought a name; they have bought possibilities. A forward comfortable in modern systems, schooled in possession football at Barcelona, in vertical, quick transitions at Leverkusen, and in the tactical detail of Italian football.
