Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua Fight Date and Venue Confirmed

The highly awaited fight between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury is now scheduled, revealing both the date and location for this historic British boxing event.

Negotiations over when and where the bout would take place stretched for months after both fighters signed contracts in April. A tug-of-war involving promoters Eddie Hearn and Dana White kept fans guessing whether the fight would even happen this year. While White pushed for a U.S. venue, Hearn insisted the fight remain in the UK, reportedly turning down an offer to move it to Madison Square Garden.

Cardiff to Host the Showdown

American sports journalist Dan Rafael shared news that should please British fans: the fight is expected on December 11th at Cardiff's Principality Stadium. Other dates floated included November 28th and December 4th, but December 11th appears the frontrunner.

Rafael noted some administrative hurdles remain, like securing permits, with an official confirmation possibly coming soon. Hearn recently clarified that White will not promote the fight, emphasizing the British promoter’s control.

Fight Build-Up and Recent Bouts

This long-anticipated matchup had felt uncertain, especially as both boxers approach the later stages of their careers. Both have had tune-up fights this year to prepare. In July, Fury stopped Mariusz Wach in seven rounds, following a victory against Arslanbek Makhmudov in April at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. After that win, Fury called out Joshua directly.

Joshua returned to the ring after recovering from injuries sustained in a tragic car accident last December, which claimed the lives of two friends. In July, he knocked out Kristian Prenga in the second round despite being knocked down twice early on.

Promoter Rivalry Adds Drama

The main verbal clashes have come from the promoters rather than the fighters. White accused Hearn of trying to block the fight and stall negotiations. Hearn responded by stating the contracts are already signed and demands should be honored.

"Dana White has tried to get involved in a fight that he has nothing to do with and to get Sela to break their contract, scrap a British fight, and bring it to America," said Hearn. "He thinks that he’s not causing a problem? All we have done is say, ‘We’ve signed our contract. Just honor the contract.’"

Hearn added, "Anthony Joshua won’t take a little bit more money to do the fight in America, because he cares about British boxing and the contract he signed. Dana White thinks you can throw money and make someone dance to your tune. Not on A.J.’s watch."

Principality Stadium Ready for Historic Bout

The fight is likely to start late in the UK to accommodate American viewers, but the Principality Stadium is shaping up as the venue for the biggest all-British heavyweight showdown. This stadium, holding 74,000 spectators, previously hosted Joshua's victory over Joseph Parker in March 2018 and Joe Calzaghe’s win over Mikkel Kessler in 2007.
