Tottenham Reject Everton's Bid for Richarlison Amid Transfer Talks
Tottenham Hotspur have turned down an offer from Everton for Richarlison, with the London club standing firm on their valuation of the Brazilian forward despite his desire to return to Merseyside.
Richarlison is keen on a move back to the club where he made his name in the Premier League, but Spurs have made it clear that Everton’s bid falls short of their asking price. Tottenham are understood to want at least £35 million before they even consider sanctioning a sale.
The 29-year-old spent four seasons at Goodison Park before leaving in 2022, when Spurs paid around £60m to prise him away from Everton. Now, just two years on, the prospect of a reunion has re-emerged – but only if the numbers add up.
Under Roberto De Zerbi, Richarlison has been involved regularly in pre-season, yet his place in the pecking order is under threat. The Spurs head coach is targeting Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo and Manchester City winger Savinho, and the arrival of that attacking pair would almost certainly push the Brazilian down the line for minutes.
That shift has encouraged Everton, who have tracked Richarlison for some time and see him as a headline addition in a summer where David Moyes is demanding more firepower. The forward produced some of the most explosive football of his career at Goodison, becoming a crowd favourite with his work rate, edge and knack for big goals. The idea of him leading the line there again is an attractive one for both player and club.
But sentiment will not drive this deal. Money will.
Everton have already felt Tottenham’s resolve in the market. They tried to land Djed Spence before his move to Inter Milan, tabling an offer of £25m. Spurs held out for more, and Inter eventually struck a £30m agreement that also included a 10 per cent sell-on clause.
The message is consistent: if Everton want Richarlison back, they will have to pay. And they are not alone in watching his situation. Other clubs are monitoring the Brazilian’s future, ready to move if Spurs open the door.
For Everton, the equation is brutally simple. Find the cash, or watch a former talisman head elsewhere.
