Tottenham Negotiates Double Signing for Savinho and Marmoush

Tottenham Hotspur are deep in negotiations with Manchester City over an ambitious double move for forwards Savinho and Omar Marmoush, with the London club pushing hard to reshape Roberto de Zerbi’s attack before the new season kicks off.

Discussions are described as advanced, but nothing is signed. Not yet.

Savinho Seeking a Way Out

Spurs’ pursuit of Brazilian winger Savinho is not new. Their interest stretches back to 2025, when he was seen as one of the next big wide talents in the Premier League. The move to City in 2024, for £30m, was supposed to launch him.

It never quite did.

Savinho, 22, managed only seven Premier League starts last season, stuck behind established options and unable to carve out a consistent role. Now he wants a way out, and Tottenham are offering exactly that: minutes, responsibility, and a central role in De Zerbi’s rebuild.

City are open to selling, but only at the right price. The club expects to bank a clear profit on the Brazilian, and on any other outgoing forward this summer.

Marmoush Out of Favour

On the other side of the deal sits Omar Marmoush, another attacker whose City spell has stalled.

The Egyptian international arrived from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2025 for £59m, a statement signing at the time. One year on, the numbers are underwhelming for a Guardiola forward: eight goals in 36 appearances across all competitions in the 2025-26 campaign.

By the end of that season, Marmoush had slipped down Pep Guardiola’s pecking order. Now, like Savinho, he is available — at the right figure — as City continue to refresh a squad that has already seen several senior players depart.

City’s exact valuation of the pair remains unclear, but there is no expectation of a discount. The champions want strong fees and believe the market will deliver them.

De Zerbi’s Attack-First Rebuild

For Tottenham, this is about more than opportunism. It is about necessity.

Roberto de Zerbi has already overseen a major investment in midfield this summer, with £185m spent on Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali. The spine is being rebuilt. The problem is what happens in front of it.

Spurs finished 17th last season, scraping survival in a campaign defined by bluntness in the final third. Just 48 league goals told the story of a side that rarely killed games and often looked short of ideas in attack.

De Zerbi wants that to change immediately. Savinho would bring direct running and width. Marmoush offers versatility across the front line and a different type of physical presence. Together, they would give Tottenham a new look in the final third — and a very different threat in transition.

The question is whether the club can afford to go that big.

Gakpo Interest Complicates the Picture

Tottenham also retain interest in Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo, another long-standing target who fits De Zerbi’s aggressive, front-foot style.

But there is a financial reality to confront. It is uncertain whether Spurs can realistically fund a move for Gakpo on top of a double deal for Savinho and Marmoush. Something may have to give: either a compromise on targets, or significant outgoings to balance the books.

For now, the focus of the negotiations is with City. The London club know they have a narrow window to strike before the season starts and before other suitors circle.

City Continue Their Summer Overhaul

At the Etihad, this is shaping into a summer of controlled upheaval.

City have already cashed in on key figures. Rodri has gone, Tijjani Reijnders has moved on, and goalkeeper James Trafford has also departed. The champions are trimming and reshaping, confident in their ability to refresh without losing their edge.

Savinho and Marmoush could be the next names off the books, two high-value forwards who never fully settled into Guardiola’s system but still carry strong market appeal.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are racing the clock.

They open their Premier League campaign away at Brentford on Saturday. City host Bournemouth on Sunday. Whether Savinho and Marmoush line up in blue, in white, or sit in the stands watching their futures unfold could say plenty about how bold Spurs — and City — are prepared to be in this window.
