Tottenham Opens Talks for Franco Mastantuono Loan to Strengthen Attack

After securing six new players, Tottenham Hotspur aims to bolster their attack for the upcoming campaign under Roberto De Zerbi. Fans got a glimpse of summer signings Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali during a behind-closed-doors victory over MK Dons, where Fernandes impressed with a stunning early volley.

Interest in Real Madrid's Franco Mastantuono

Tottenham has reportedly reached out regarding a loan for Franco Mastantuono, a promising talent at Real Madrid, according to Argentine source Cronica. The 18-year-old, who moved from River Plate to Madrid for £38.5 million in June 2025, might leave temporarily to get more minutes on the pitch.

Described by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez as "one of the biggest talents in world football," Mastantuono can operate both as a right-winger and an attacking midfielder. Last season, he featured in 23 LaLiga matches, starting in 11.

Real Madrid favors a loan without a purchase option as they evaluate the best environment for his development. Tottenham joins a long list of clubs interested in the Argentine, including Fulham, Juventus, Inter Milan, Como, Porto, Benfica, Sporting CP, Villarreal, Rennes, Lyon, Monaco, Bayer Leverkusen, and RB Leipzig.

Need for Attacking Depth

Strengthening the offense is a priority after Tottenham improved their defense and midfield. The right wing needs additional options, especially with Wilson Odobert sidelined due to an ACL injury and uncertainty surrounding Dejan Kulusevski’s return after a long absence.

If acquired, Mastantuono would offer De Zerbi versatility by covering the right flank and potentially playing centrally as an attacking midfielder. Last season, Mastantuono scored three goals for Real Madrid, adding value to his prospective role at Tottenham.
