Rangers Look to Offload Nedim Bajrami as Al Taawoun Express Interest

Nedim Bajrami’s Rangers career looks to be heading for the exit door, less than a year after he walked into Ibrox with the promise of fresh creativity in midfield.

The Albania international arrived from Sassuolo in August 2024, a 27-year-old in his supposed prime, tasked with adding guile to the Rangers engine room. It never quite clicked. Flashes, yes. A run of form, no. By the end of last season he had only 12 Scottish Premiership appearances to his name and had slipped quietly down the pecking order.

Now the club are in active talks to move him on during the summer window.

Derek McInnes has already made it clear: Bajrami is not part of his plans. He is one of several players told they can find new clubs as Rangers rip into a heavy recruitment drive aimed at reshaping the squad before the deadline. Every outgoing deal matters. Shifting Bajrami would free up both space and salary for the rebuild McInnes wants.

For weeks, interest simmered in the background. Ibrox News reported earlier this month that a surprise departure could be on the cards, with clubs in Italy and Turkey monitoring his situation and sensing an opportunity with a player who has stalled in Glasgow.

Now a new market has opened up.

Sunsport report that Saudi Pro League side Al Taawoun have stepped forward and are pushing to sign Bajrami this summer. Talks are understood to centre on an initial loan move, with a future fee of around £2.5 million on the table as part of the proposal.

Negotiations are ongoing. Al Taawoun are not alone, with other clubs described as “waiting in the wings” and ready to move if the deal drags or terms shift. For Rangers, that competition only strengthens their hand as they look to secure a clean exit and reinvest.
