PSG Pursues Mika Godts Amid Premier League Interest

Paris Saint-Germain have moved to the front of the queue for Mika Godts – but they are not alone in sensing an opportunity.

Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham have all been contacted over the chance to hijack PSG’s move for the Ajax forward, with a deal expected to cost around €60m. Intermediaries have updated the English clubs in recent days as the French champions step up their pursuit.

Godts, 21, is coming off a breakout season in Amsterdam. In a turbulent campaign for Ajax, he still produced 32 goal contributions and emerged as one of the most coveted young attackers in Europe. That kind of output, at that age, has put him firmly on the radar of Europe’s elite.

PSG step on the gas

PSG have already held positive talks over a transfer for Godts after failing to land RB Leipzig talent Yan Diomande. They are close to completing a deal for Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche, but Luis Campos is not stopping there.

The club’s football advisor wants to deepen Luis Enrique’s attacking options and sees Godts as a player who can grow inside the Spaniard’s long-term project. The Belgian is understood to be open to a move to Paris, fully aware he would be fighting for minutes in one of the most stacked forward lines in world football.

As PSG’s interest hardens, those around the player have moved quickly. Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham – all of whom have maintained varying levels of contact with his camp throughout the summer – have been informed of the latest developments.

Premier League quartet on alert

The timing is interesting. Arsenal are still hunting for a left-sided attacker to complement Mikel Arteta’s front line. Liverpool and Tottenham have been scouring the market for wide options all window, looking to refresh and rotate their forward units.

Manchester United’s brief is slightly different but no less urgent: they want a versatile forward who can operate across the front three. Sources insist all four Premier League clubs continue to hold an active interest in the Belgium international and are watching PSG’s manoeuvres closely.

For now, though, Ajax are holding their ground.

Ajax set their price – and their stance

The Dutch giants value Godts at around €60m (£51m), a figure that has not scared PSG away. Talks are ongoing, and the French champions remain encouraged that something could yet be done.

Ajax technical director Jordi Cruyff has gone public with the club’s position, underlining how reluctant they are to cash in too early.

“Ultimately, players like Godts will leave, but only at the right time and for the right price,” Cruyff told De Telegraaf. “We want to keep him in Amsterdam for at least another year. He is not for sale and otherwise very difficult to buy.”

It is a familiar Ajax line: not for sale, until the number is right. The message is clear enough – any buyer will have to pay at the top end and on Ajax’s terms.

Tug of war before the window shuts

Despite that stance, PSG are not backing off. There is a belief in Paris that the deal can be explored further if negotiations continue in the current vein.

Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham are keeping a close eye on every twist. If Ajax soften or PSG hesitate, the scramble for one of Europe’s most productive young forwards could ignite in the final weeks of the window.
