PSG Negotiates for Ajax Winger Mika Godts as Barcola Exit Looms

Paris Saint-Germain have begun negotiations with Ajax for highly rated winger Mika Godts, with the French champions moving quickly to reshape their attack ahead of a pivotal summer.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reports that talks are underway between the clubs, with PSG identifying the Belgian as a priority target after closing in on Maghnes Akliouche from AS Monaco. The Ligue 1 side have already beaten Liverpool to Akliouche’s signature, a statement of intent in a market crowded with heavyweight buyers.

Now their gaze has shifted to Amsterdam.

Ajax dig in as Godts says yes

Ajax are not rolling out the red carpet for this deal. The Dutch club are determined to keep Godts, who has rapidly become one of their most valuable assets after a breakout season in the Eredivisie.

The 21-year-old, though, is ready to move.

Godts has reportedly given the green light to a transfer to Paris after what have been described as “direct positive talks” with PSG’s transfer chief Luis Ocampos. Personal terms are not expected to be a major obstacle; the real battle lies between the clubs, with Ajax under no pressure to sell and fully aware of the market value of a young, attacking talent with his numbers.

Barcola replacement already lined up

The urgency from PSG is clear. Bradley Barcola is likely to leave this summer, having informed the club that he will not extend his contract, which runs until 2028. That stance has opened the door for Premier League interest, with Liverpool currently leading the race and expected to submit their opening bid in the coming days.

Barcola’s departure would strip Luis Enrique of a key option on the left, a zone that has already undergone major reconstruction since the exit of Kylian Mbappé. PSG cannot afford to be caught short in that area again, and Godts fits the profile they want: young, quick, direct, and still with room to grow.

Primarily a left winger, Godts can also drift inside and operate as an attacking midfielder, offering Enrique the positional flexibility he values so highly in his fluid front line.

Godts arrives on PSG’s radar off the back of a stunning campaign with Ajax.

Across all competitions last season, he scored 17 goals and delivered 15 assists in 44 games – elite production for a wide player still in the early stages of his career. His performances earned him the 2025/26 Eredivisie Talent of the Year award, edging out other standout youngsters, including AZ’s Kees Smit, himself linked with several major European clubs.

Those numbers are not empty padding. They are backed by a playing style that has drawn inevitable comparisons with Eden Hazard: low centre of gravity, explosive acceleration, tight control in traffic, and a knack for slipping through gaps that defenders think they’ve closed. Godts attacks full-backs with pace, but he also sees the final pass, making him as much a creator as a finisher.
