Premier League Transfer News: Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United Moves

The Premier League’s heavyweights are moving their pieces early, and the summer window is already crackling.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham are all deep in negotiations, shaping squads that will define the coming season. Money is moving. So are reputations.

Arsenal turn up the heat

Arsenal have already put one deal in the bank, confirming the arrival of Christos Tzolis, and they are now preparing a statement move in midfield. A £70million bid is being lined up for Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes after personal terms were agreed, a clear sign Mikel Arteta wants an immediate upgrade at the heart of his side.

That is only one front in a crowded battle plan. The Gunners have joined the race for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande and are also eyeing defensive reinforcements, with interest in Ezri Konsa, John Stones and Jacobo Ramon. Higher up the pitch, links to Julian Alvarez, Bradley Barcola and Marcus Rashford refuse to die down, underlining Arsenal’s intent to add both depth and star quality to a title-winning group.

There is even talk of creativity in the market to land Alvarez: Arsenal are considering using Viktor Gyokeres in a player-plus-cash proposal. The Swede scored 21 goals in 55 games last season and helped deliver the Premier League title, yet could now become a makeweight if the club decide Alvarez is the man to lead their forward line.

Manchester United close ranks around their captain

At Old Trafford, one decision has been made with minimal fuss. Bruno Fernandes is not for sale.

The Manchester United captain, into the final 12 months of his deal with an option for a further year, had been linked with a surprise move to Galatasaray. Those whispers have been shut down, with reports stating United have no intention of cashing in on their talismanic midfielder this summer.

Attention instead is fixed on rebuilding the engine room around him. United’s pursuit of Aurelien Tchouameni has been handed a boost, and his Real Madrid team-mate Eduardo Camavinga is also on their radar. They are tracking Carlos Baleba, Manu Kone, Sander Berge, Danilo and Tyler Adams as they search for the right blend of power, legs and control in midfield.

Chelsea’s rebuild rolls on

At Stamford Bridge, the churn continues.

Chelsea are closing in on Maxence Lacroix, with the Crystal Palace centre-back undergoing a medical in London ahead of a £52m move. The deal, expected to be completed on Friday, brings in a defender who has spent the summer on international duty with France at the World Cup, adding yet another high-profile piece to an already expensive back line.

Behind the scenes, Chelsea are also reshaping their staff. Set-piece specialist Austin MacPhee has left Aston Villa and is set to join the club, after overseeing 29 set-piece goals for Villa last season. It is a small detail with potentially huge impact, and exactly the kind of marginal gain Chelsea have been desperate to exploit.

On the recruitment front, they are not done. Kerim Alajbegovic and Alex Scott are both targets after the arrival of Morgan Rogers, as Chelsea continue to stack their squad with young, technical talent.

Real Madrid circle as Rodri pushes for exit

One of the summer’s biggest stories could yet come from Spain.

Rodri wants to leave Manchester City, and Real Madrid are preparing a bid. Fresh from captaining Spain to a second World Cup title and winning the Golden Ball, the 30-year-old has never been more influential. Those performances have convinced Real to move, with confidence in Madrid that an agreement can be struck.

If City lose their midfield metronome, the ripple effect across Europe’s transfer market will be enormous.

Diomande race reopens

Back to Diomande, and the door has been nudged open for Premier League clubs.

The RB Leipzig winger has set his sights on Paris Saint-Germain and is understood to have an agreement over personal terms with the French and European champions. But PSG have yet to meet Leipzig’s €120m (£102m) valuation or even lodge a formal bid.

That hesitation has given fresh encouragement to Arsenal and Liverpool, as well as Real Madrid and Manchester City. One decisive offer could swing one of the window’s most coveted wide forwards away from Paris.

Liverpool are already active, having moved for Maghnes Akliouche while also targeting Barcola and Rayan as they refresh their attacking options.

Inter push for Romero

In Italy, Inter Milan are working on a deal that could reshape Tottenham’s defence.

The Nerazzurri have made contact with Cristian Romero’s camp and are ready to put around £34m on the table. The player is open to the move, and his agent has travelled to Milan to try to push the transfer over the line.

Tottenham, who are already exploring moves for Andreas Schjelderup and Rafael Leao, could face a major decision over one of their most important defenders.

West Ham draw a line in the sand

Relegation to the Championship has not turned West Ham into an easy touch.

The club have rejected a bid from Brentford for 21-year-old left-back El Hadji Malick Diouf and issued a clear not-for-sale message. After raising almost £150m from the departures of Mateus Fernandes and Crysencio Summerville, West Ham no longer need to sell and are determined to keep the core of their squad together.

Whether Brentford test that resolve with an improved offer remains to be seen.

One player West Ham do want to move on is Jean-Clair Todibo. The French defender, who has gained a reputation for poor attitude and disciplinary issues, is available for as little as £15m. So far, there have been no takers.

The outlines of this window are clear: Arsenal are hunting a marquee midfielder and a new forward, Chelsea are rebuilding with relentless energy, United are trying to retool their midfield without losing their captain, and Real Madrid are circling Manchester City’s most important outfield player.
