Nicolo Tresoldi: Premier League Giants Eye Club Brugge Striker

Roma have stepped away, but the story around Nicolo Tresoldi is only just warming up.

According to HLN, the Italian club have pulled out of the race for the Club Brugge striker after seeing a €35 million bid knocked back. Club Brugge said no, firmly enough that Roma have decided to walk away rather than push the price higher.

That refusal tells its own story.

At 21, Tresoldi is now firmly on the radar of Manchester United and Chelsea. Both clubs are tracking him, both like what they see, yet neither has made the move Roma did. For now, they are watching, not bidding.

They know where he has come from.

Tresoldi arrived in Bruges only last summer, a relatively low-key signing from Hannover 96 in Germany’s second tier. In 80 games there he scored 14 times – promising, hard-working, but hardly the numbers that shake up a market.

Belgium changed that.

In his first season with Club Brugge, Tresoldi exploded. Twenty-three goals in 58 games, the driving force in a campaign that ended with the club’s 20th Belgian top-flight title. He didn’t just adapt; he accelerated.

Those numbers, in that context, are why €35 million is no longer enough.

Club Brugge see a striker who scores, runs, presses, and still looks like he has plenty of room to grow. Tresoldi doesn’t yet resemble a finished product. That is precisely what makes him so valuable to clubs who think in cycles, not seasons.

Roma saw an opportunity. Manchester United and Chelsea see a project.

For United, who have been searching for a reliable, long-term option up front, a 21-year-old with a title-winning season behind him and a sharp upward curve is exactly the type of profile they tend to study closely. Chelsea, deep into their own rebuild and heavily invested in young talent, are operating in the same market.

Both are clearly interested. Neither has committed. Not yet.

So Tresoldi waits at Club Brugge, in a position that suits his club more than anyone else. If he stays and produces another season like the last, the asking price will not go down. The line of suitors will not get shorter.

There is a recent blueprint in front of him.

Christos Tzolis used the Belgian stage as a springboard and earned his move to the Premier League. Tresoldi, a young German forward with a title and 23 goals behind him, stands on a similar threshold.

Roma have left the table. Manchester United and Chelsea are still hovering around it.

If Tresoldi delivers another stellar year in Bruges, the question may not be whether he reaches the Premier League – but which English giant is prepared to pay the full price for his rise.
