Newcastle United to Pay €11 Million for Matthias Jaissle from Al-Ahli
Newcastle United have finalized the amount they will pay Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli to secure German coach Matthias Jaissle, according to recent media reports.
Jaissle officially resigned from Al-Ahli on Thursday, paving the way for him to replace Eddie Howe as Newcastle's head coach next season.
Compensation Details and Contract Terms
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed on X that Newcastle will pay roughly 11 million euros in compensation to Al-Ahli for Jaissle's release.
Jaissle is expected to arrive this Saturday to be officially presented as Newcastle's sporting director, signing a four-year contract running through 2030.
He had nearly agreed to a similar contract length with Al-Ahli, but negotiations fell through over a clause he sought. Jaissle wanted a guarantee that his full salary would be paid if he was dismissed, which the Saudi club declined to accept.
Jaissle's Success at Al-Ahli
Since taking charge of Al-Ahli in 2023, succeeding South African coach Pitso Mosimane, Jaissle led the team for three seasons. During his tenure, the club won two AFC Champions League Elite titles and secured their first Saudi Super Cup in nine years.
