Mykhailo Mudryk Cleared to Return to Football After Doping Ban

Mykhailo Mudryk has been cleared to return to competitive football immediately after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) partially upheld his appeal against a four-year doping ban.

The Chelsea winger, 25, has been sidelined since November 2024, his career abruptly halted when an "adverse finding" for the banned substance meldonium triggered a provisional suspension from the Football Association the following month. What followed was the harshest possible sanction: a full four-year ban from the game.

That punishment has now effectively been cut to time served.

Cas confirmed that Mudryk accepted he had broken anti-doping regulations, a key step in the process, and agreed to a suspension equal to the period he has already spent out of football. In turn, the Lausanne-based court ruled he is free to resume his career "with immediate effect".

For Chelsea, it opens the door to the return of a high‑profile, high‑investment player whose trajectory had stalled just as he was trying to establish himself in English football. For Mudryk, it ends months of uncertainty and isolation, and presents something far more precious than any legal victory: the chance to step back onto the pitch and try to rebuild a reputation that now carries a permanent asterisk.
