Brahim already wrote a sizeable chapter in Milan’s recent history. Between 2020 and 2023, during a long loan from Real Madrid, he played 124 games, scored 18 goals and delivered 15 assists. Those numbers only tell part of the story: he was a key creative spark in the side that stormed to the Serie A title in 2022, often knitting together attacks in tight games when Stefano Pioli’s team needed a flash of invention.

A return would not be simple. Díaz is under contract at Real Madrid until 2027, and the Spanish giants are under no pressure to sell. Juventus had tested the waters earlier in the window before turning their attention to Bayer Leverkusen’s Karim Alaibegovic, leaving Milan with a slightly clearer path if they decide to move aggressively.

The logic is obvious. Milan want a player who can arrive and immediately understand the demands, the tactical framework, the expectations. Brahim ticks every box.

All of that planning, though, sits in the shadow of one dominant question: what happens with Rafael Leão?

Inside the club, his future now colours every conversation. The Portuguese forward has made it clear he believes his seven-year stay in Milan has reached its natural conclusion. For a player who has grown into one of Serie A’s most explosive wingers, a parting of ways now feels less like a possibility and more like a looming reality.

Leão’s first dream was straightforward: a move to the Premier League or La Liga, a step into one of Europe’s two most-watched stages. The market, so far, has not answered. No concrete offers have arrived from England or Spain, leaving the 25-year-old to reassess his options.

That’s where Turkey enters the frame.

Galatasaray, armed with a place in next season’s Champions League – something rivals Fenerbahce cannot offer at this point – are preparing their move. For a player who thrives on big European nights, that ticket to the group stage carries weight. The Istanbul club see an opportunity to land a marquee name who can instantly transform their attack and their profile.

Leão is listening. The project appeals, the stage appeals, but the numbers will define the deal. He is asking for a salary in excess of 10 million euros per season, a figure that would make him one of the highest earners in Turkey and underline his status as the centrepiece of the project.

Milan’s stance is just as firm. They are open to a separation, but only on their terms: a permanent sale, no loans, no half-measures. After seven years of development, patience and investment, the Rossoneri want clarity and a transfer fee that reflects his status and potential.

So the club stand at a crossroads. One door seems to be closing on Leão, another potentially opening again for Brahim Díaz. If Galatasaray put the right offer on the table and Real Madrid listen to Milan’s call, the shape of the Rossoneri attack could change dramatically in a single summer.
