“To make my IG story clear. It’s not a dig of any sort! I’m a MU supporter, and that remains. I was showing gratitude to the clubs and coaches that I have worked with over the past 18 months, they have played a big role in this call up,” he wrote on X.

The message underlined two things. First, his determination to keep the focus on the people who helped revive his form – Hansi Flick at Barcelona among them – after a season in Spain that has restored his sharpness and confidence. Second, his insistence that the bond with United, at least in his eyes, is intact.

World Cup 2026 Ambitions

Rashford’s resurgence now feeds directly into England’s ambitions on the biggest stage. Tuchel’s side will face Croatia, Ghana and Panama in the group phase of World Cup 2026, a mix of technical nous, physical power and stubborn organisation that will test every attacking option in the squad.
