Vitek set for permanent Middlesbrough move

Radek Vitek is closing in on a permanent transfer to Middlesbrough, with United finalising the details of the deal.

talkSPORT report that Boro are “closing in” on the signing, while journalist Ben Jacobs has confirmed the Championship side are “close to signing” the 20-year-old Czech goalkeeper from United. Vitek spent last season on loan at Bristol City and, crucially, wants regular first-team football – something that has never looked guaranteed in Manchester.

The fee remains under wraps, but previous reporting from the Daily Mail suggested United would seek around £10m to sell Vitek this summer. For a goalkeeper yet to make a senior breakthrough at Old Trafford, that would represent smart business and a clear bet from Middlesbrough on his potential.

For United, it’s a decisive cut. Vitek was one of six players flagged by The Athletic as possible departures in the final month of the window, alongside Altay Bayindir, Harry Amass, Toby Collyer, Ethan Wheatley and fellow goalkeeper Vitek himself. That list is now being rapidly trimmed.

Bayindir to Celta Vigo – deal confirmed

If Vitek’s move is about a permanent fresh start, Altay Bayindir’s next step is about revival.

Fabrizio Romano has delivered his trademark “here we go” on a deal that sends Bayindir to Celta Vigo. The Turkish international will join the La Liga club on loan, with a €4m buy option included. That figure can change depending on appearances, adding a performance edge to the agreement.

Bayindir has been authorised to travel for his medical and to sign contracts, bringing an end – at least temporarily – to a frustrating spell at United in which chances were scarce behind the established No.1.

The structure of the deal tells its own story. Celta get a goalkeeper with international pedigree at a manageable cost. United keep a degree of control, but also clarity: Bayindir’s future now depends on how he performs in Spain.

With Vitek on his way out and Bayindir flying to Spain, United’s goalkeeping picture for the coming season is suddenly sharp.
