Manchester United Eye Francisco Conceicao as Next Signing

Manchester United have already ripped up their usual summer script. Five signings are through the door, a Champions League return is on the horizon, and Michael Carrick’s project has a clear shape. Now comes the part where they try to add stardust.

And in Turin, they think that stardust costs at least €50 million.

Carrick’s next piece: Conceicao

According to Italian outlet TuttoJuve, Carrick has fixed his gaze on Francisco Conceicao, the Juventus and Portugal winger who has quietly become one of Serie A’s most dangerous wide operators.

United’s business so far has been brisk and calculated. Karl Darlow and Kit Margetson have bolstered the goalkeeping department, Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans have added craft and control in midfield, while Tynan Thompson has been brought in as one for the future. That’s five signings already, yet the plan is far from complete.

INEOS want a third midfield addition and a striker to support Benjamin Sesko. Carrick, though, also wants a winger who can change the tempo of a game on his own. Conceicao is the name that keeps circling back to Old Trafford.

At 23, the Portugal international has time on his side and numbers to back up the excitement. In the 2025/26 season he produced four goals and five assists in 42 appearances in all competitions for Juventus. Those figures don’t scream superstardom, but they sit on top of something more valuable: a reputation as one of the best right-sided wingers in Italy and a constant one‑v‑one threat.

TuttoJuve report that United view Conceicao as “the perfect fit” for Carrick’s evolving side. The manager is said to particularly value his ability to beat defenders, carve out chances and operate on either flank. In a league where one‑v‑one specialists are gold dust, United see a player who can inject unpredictability into a team that has sometimes felt too scripted in the final third.

Juventus dig in

There is, of course, a problem. Conceicao is tied to Juventus until 2030.

That long contract hands the Bianconeri all the leverage. TuttoJuve state that Juventus want to keep him and have placed a minimum price of €50m (£43m, $57.4m) on his head. The message from Turin is blunt: anyone who wants Conceicao will have to pay a premium.

From Juventus’ perspective, the valuation does two jobs at once. It reflects their belief in his development and ensures a sizeable capital gain on the investment they made only a year ago. Internally, the club see him as a core part of their future rather than a saleable asset to plug gaps elsewhere in the squad.

The stance is described as “clear”. Conceicao fits neatly into Luciano Spalletti’s plans and is not listed among the players expected to leave during this window. Only an offer that Juventus deem “unmarketable” would drag them to the negotiating table.

In other words: United can admire, scout and plan. But if Carrick truly wants Conceicao lighting up the right flank at Old Trafford in 2026, INEOS will have to decide how far they are willing to push to get a winger who doesn’t just beat full-backs, but also tests the limits of their new transfer-era ambition.
