Manchester United Pursue Conceicao as Juventus Eye Zirkzee Swap

Manchester United have moved to the front of the queue for Juventus winger Conceicao, opening the door to a heavyweight swap deal that could drag several clubs into its slipstream.

According to Sportmediaset, United are actively driving talks for the Portuguese wide man, who has lit up Turin since arriving from Porto in the summer of 2024. Initially a loan signing, he convinced Juventus so quickly that the club triggered a €30 million purchase, and he has since become a key pillar first under Igor Tudor and then Luciano Spalletti.

Now, after just two seasons, he could be on the move again.

United’s wide gamble

United’s interest is clear: Michael Carrick wants a more explosive, line-breaking presence out wide, and Conceicao fits the brief. His form in Serie A has not gone unnoticed in England. Liverpool are tracking the situation, but at this stage United are the ones pushing hardest, shaping the numbers and testing Juventus’ resolve.

Juve value the winger at between €50m and €60m. That figure alone would make this a major outlay, yet United believe they can bend the deal in their favour by adding a player to the package rather than relying on cash alone.

The name on the table: Zirkzee.

Zirkzee the key to the deal

United are reportedly prepared to offer €30m plus the Dutch striker to land Conceicao. For the Premier League side, Zirkzee is no longer central to their long-term plans. For Juventus, he could be exactly what Spalletti has been searching for.

The Bianconeri want a new forward this summer, and Spalletti is understood to be a firm admirer of Zirkzee’s profile – his movement, his link play, his ability to operate as more than just a penalty-box finisher. That makes the proposed exchange not just a financial manoeuvre, but a tactical fit.

In Turin, the structure is being viewed as close to ideal: a sizeable fee banked, a proven Serie A striker incoming, and minimal disruption to the wage bill. In Manchester, Carrick would finally get the dynamic, high-intensity winger he has been missing.

Mendes at the centre of it all

Hovering over the entire operation is Jorge Mendes. The super-agent is deeply involved in the negotiations, working to align the interests of two demanding clubs and a set of ambitious players.

Mendes is expected to formally present United’s proposal at Continassa in the coming days, laying out a framework that aims to satisfy both the tactical needs and financial expectations of the two clubs. Those inside the talks already see the swap concept as a near-perfect compromise: United upgrade out wide, Juventus remodel their attack, and the balance sheet on both sides remains under control.

David pushed towards the exit

Zirkzee’s potential arrival would immediately force Juventus into a reshuffle up front. Jonathan David is the primary candidate to make way, despite his desire to stay in Turin.

With Lois Openda heading to Lyon and the expected arrival of Randal Kolo Muani, the club no longer see David as untouchable. The hierarchy are prepared to sanction his departure for around €30m, a figure that would help smooth the financial edges of the Conceicao–Zirkzee operation.

Interest is already forming. Crystal Palace and Aston Villa have made early enquiries, sensing an opportunity to pick up a proven scorer at a defined price. In France, Rennes and Paris FC are also circling, attracted by the chance to bring the Canadian back to Ligue 1 territory.

So the picture is set: United pushing hard for Conceicao, Juventus tempted by Zirkzee, David on the market, and Mendes stitching the threads together. If this deal breaks Juventus’ way, they could walk into the new season with a retooled attack and fresh cash in hand – while Carrick finally gets the winger to reshape United’s frontline.
