Liverpool Intensifies Bid for Barcola Amid PSG Transfer Tactics

Liverpool have gone all-in on Bradley Barcola, raising their offer for the Paris Saint-Germain winger as they look to prise him – and highly rated team-mate Ibrahim Mbaye – out of the Parc des Princes.

After losing out on Yan Diomande, who chose PSG before Real Madrid dramatically hijacked that deal, Liverpool have switched their full focus to Barcola. The 23-year-old is keen on Anfield, attracted by the promise of greater game time under new head coach Andoni Iraola.

PSG, sensing his departure, are already working on replacements. Targets have been lined up: Maghnes Akliouche from Monaco and Ajax’s Mika Godts are both on their radar as the French champions prepare for life without Barcola.

Fabrizio Romano revealed on Monday that “official club-to-club talks” are underway between Liverpool and PSG.

Those discussions began with a sizeable gap between the two clubs. Liverpool opened at around €100m (£86m), a figure that underlined their intent but fell well short of PSG’s stance.

The French side have been holding out for a huge €150m (£128.5m). Liverpool have now moved again. According to BBC Sport, the Premier League club have signalled they are ready to go to £100m (€117m) to get the transfer done.

The pressure is building. Liverpool are edging closer to PSG’s valuation, and while there is still distance to close, the outlines of a potential agreement are starting to take shape. Once the clubs settle on a fee, the expectation is that the move will accelerate quickly. Personal terms are not viewed as a stumbling block for Liverpool.

This is not just about one winger, either. Liverpool are trying to reshape their wide options with a statement double swoop for Barcola and Mbaye.

Reliable French reporter Fabrice Hawkins has reported that Liverpool have already made contact with PSG regarding Mbaye, the 18-year-old who caught the eye with Senegal at the World Cup. His emergence has not gone unnoticed across Europe, but Liverpool are pushing to be at the front of the queue.

The fit is obvious. Barcola prefers to attack from the left, drifting inside and driving at defenders. Mbaye is more at home on the right, offering balance on the opposite flank. Together, they would refresh both sides of Liverpool’s frontline and hand Iraola a new, dynamic wide pairing for the next era at Anfield.

On Tuesday night, Romano added another layer to the Mbaye chase, reporting that Liverpool have made contact with the youngster’s new agent, Jorge Mendes. Mbaye has proposals from Bundesliga clubs, but is currently giving priority to the Liverpool project.

A deal with RB Leipzig had been close, only to collapse when the Diomande-to-PSG move fell apart and the dominoes shifted. Talks are expected to continue, with Liverpool now firmly in the mix, as first reported by Hawkins.

Liverpool have raised the stakes. PSG know it. The numbers are climbing, the conversations are intensifying, and a transfer tug-of-war for two of their brightest wide talents is now fully underway.
