Kovacic Acknowledges Pressure on Manchester City Amid Uncertainty

After four straight Premier League titles turned domestic dominance into routine, City have watched Liverpool and Arsenal take turns at the summit in the past two campaigns. The aura of inevitability has cracked. The pressure, Mateo Kovacic admits, has not.

“I think the pressure is on everybody … on us especially, because we haven’t won it two years in a row,” the Croatian midfielder told the South China Morning Post.

That line cuts through the usual pre-season noise. This is not the swagger of champions; it is the acknowledgement of a standard slipping, however slightly, in a league that punishes even the smallest drop.
