Juventus Near Deal for Sorloth as Vlahovic Successor

Juventus have moved a step closer to securing Alexander Sorloth as their new centre-forward, with a deal agreed in principle with the Norway international and negotiations now intensifying with Atletico Madrid.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, backed up by Tuttosport, Sorloth has accepted Juventus’ proposal: a contract worth around €4m per season, running until 2029 with an option to extend to 2030. The personal terms are in place. The hard part now lies in Madrid.

Juventus race the World Cup clock

Juve’s directors are pushing to close the agreement with Atletico before the World Cup kicks off, keen to avoid a drawn-out saga that could be complicated by Sorloth’s performances on the biggest stage.

Norway, set for their World Cup debut, open against Iraq on June 17 (CET). By then, Juventus would like the framework of the transfer sealed, if not fully signed off.

The urgency is clear. Dusan Vlahovic has decided to leave as a free agent when his contract expires in June, forcing the Bianconeri to accelerate their plans for a new No. 9. Sorloth has been identified as the man to lead the line in the post-Vlahovic era.

Atletico’s price, Juve’s leverage

Atletico Madrid are ready to listen to offers. They know Sorloth has suitors in the Premier League and have set an asking price in the region of €30m–€35m.

Juventus, as ever, are trying to bend the numbers their way. The Italian side aim to keep the fee below €30m and are exploring ways to sweeten the overall package without simply meeting Atletico’s valuation outright.

One possible lever sits already in Madrid: Nico Gonzalez. The player spent the 2025–26 season on loan at the Wanda Metropolitano and does not want to return to Turin this summer. Juventus may be forced to offer Atletico a discount on a permanent deal for Nico, using that concession to bring down the effective cost of Sorloth.

It is the kind of complex, multi-layered negotiation that has defined Juve’s transfer strategy in recent years: one outgoing, one incoming, and a balance sheet to protect.

Medicals on the horizon

Confidence in Turin is growing. Even though the two clubs have not yet “shaken hands”, the feeling within Juventus is that an agreement with the Colchoneros will eventually be reached.

If the deal is wrapped up before the World Cup begins, a Juventus representative will fly to the USA to oversee Sorloth’s medical tests ahead of the move. Only then will the transfer be rubber-stamped.

For now, the picture is clear: the contract is ready, the player is on board, and the clock is ticking. Juventus know exactly who they want to replace Vlahovic. The question is whether they can outmanoeuvre the market, and Atletico, before Sorloth steps onto the world stage.
