Juventus Secures Colombian Defender Jhon Lucumi on Long-Term Deal from Bologna

Juventus have completed the permanent signing of Colombian centre-back Jhon Lucumi from Serie A side Bologna, locking him in with a contract extending until June 2030.

Defender Chooses Juventus Over Several Offers

The 28-year-old turned down five other European clubs to join the Turin-based team ahead of the 2026-27 season. The deal includes an initial fee of €18 million, with potential add-ons that could bring the total to €20 million.

Lucumi will earn a net salary of €3 million per year under his four-year agreement. This transfer clearly signals his preference for Juventus among multiple suitors who showed interest.

Career Path and Club's Expectations

Lucumi started professionally at Deportivo Cali when he was 17 before moving to Belgium’s Genk in 2018, where he became known as one of the top defenders in the league. Juventus described him as a player at the height of his abilities, expected to contribute immediately to their squad.

Impact at Bologna

Since joining Bologna in the summer of 2022, Lucumi has been a key defensive figure, making 152 appearances in all competitions over four seasons. He also had the experience of playing in the Champions League during his time with the Rossoblu, scoring two goals, including one at Stadio Renato Dall'Ara.

Now officially a Juventus player, Lucumi will begin tactical training sessions with his new teammates right away. The club’s Serie A campaign kicks off on Sunday, August 23, with an away match against Frosinone, which is likely to be his competitive debut for the Bianconeri.
