Juventus are running out of summer, but not out of conviction. With the new Serie A season less than a month away and Luciano Spalletti still waiting for his centre-forward, the club’s hierarchy believes the solution is finally within reach.

The name has been clear for weeks: Randal Kolo Muani.

Asked what was still missing before a deal could be concluded, Carnevali replied: “I hope not a lot.”

Just five words, but they cut through the usual transfer-market fog. Juventus sense that the gap is narrowing, that the structure of the deal is now broadly aligned with PSG’s demands. The expectation around the club is no longer about whether Kolo Muani fits. That question was answered on the pitch last season. It is about when the final details fall into place.

The urgency is obvious. Dusan Vlahovic walked away at the end of June when his contract expired, leaving a void at the heart of Spalletti’s attack. Contacts with the Serbian’s camp have not been completely severed, with talk of a potential extension still flickering in the background, but Juventus have not waited around.
