Tottenham’s clear-out is accelerating, and Manor Solomon is being pushed towards the exit door. Now Hull City have stepped into the frame, joining West Ham United in the battle to prise the winger away from north London, according to The i Paper.

Spurs have put a £20m valuation on the 27-year-old Israel international, but the market is unlikely to meet that figure straight away. Early offers are expected to land somewhere between £10m and £20m, testing just how hard Tottenham are prepared to hold the line on a player who has never properly established himself at the club.

A free transfer that never caught fire

Solomon arrived from Fulham on a free in 2023, a low-risk move that promised sharp feet and direct running out wide. It never really materialised. He has made only five senior appearances for Spurs and has been shuttled around Europe on loan, taking in spells at Leeds United, Villarreal and Fiorentina.

Those moves told their own story. Tottenham were happy to park him elsewhere while they reshaped the squad. The pattern has continued into this summer.

Roberto De Zerbi used Solomon during pre-season, but that brief exposure has not translated into a meaningful role. While Solomon edges towards the door, De Zerbi has been talking about a very different type of winger. During Tottenham’s tour of New Zealand, he teased another “bomba” – a marquee signing to crown what has already been a busy window.

The shortlist is ambitious. Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo is a leading target, though any move would hinge on Andoni Iraola finding a replacement at Anfield. Manchester City’s Savinho is another name high on the agenda for the wide forward role.

The message is clear: Spurs want a higher calibre of attacker in those wide channels, and Solomon’s departure is part of the cost of that upgrade.

Near-relegation forces a ruthless reset

Tottenham’s stance on Solomon cannot be separated from the wider surgery on the squad. A 17th-place finish and a brush with relegation last season forced the club into a hard reset.

The wage structure has been overhauled to make room for big earners and proven quality. Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke have arrived as headline signings, while Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Martin Dubravka have been snapped up on free transfers to add experience and depth.

The outgoings might not stop with squad players. The i Paper reports that this clear-out could yet open the door for captain Cristian Romero to secure a move to Inter Milan or Atletico Madrid before the season kicks off.

In goal, Guglielmo Vicario is another who could be Italy-bound. If he goes, the path clears for Antonin Kinsky to step up as No. 1, a bold call that would underline just how far Spurs are prepared to go in remodelling the spine of the team.

Against that backdrop, Solomon’s situation feels like an early skirmish in a much bigger reshaping of the dressing room.

All of this adds urgency to negotiations over Solomon. Talks are expected to move quickly, with a resolution possible in the coming days as the league opener looms.

Hull and West Ham now face a straight test of their financial nerve. Spurs’ £20m price tag is on the table; the chasing clubs are unlikely to start there.
