Hervé Koffi Set for Union Saint-Gilloise Move

Hervé Koffi’s future is heading back to Belgium – and into the Champions League spotlight.

According to La DH, the RC Lens goalkeeper is poised to join Union Saint-Gilloise on loan with an option to buy, a move that would reunite him with a league he knows and a stage he has long chased.

Just a few weeks ago, the 29-year-old returned to Lens with the air of a man who had done everything right. His season at SCO Angers was outstanding. On loan in 2023-24, the Burkinabé international put together a campaign that firmly placed him among Ligue 1’s standout goalkeepers, combining authority in his box with the kind of reflex saves that change seasons.

Yet back in the north of France, he has run straight into a wall. The path to the No. 1 shirt is blocked by 21-year-old Robin Risser, whose rise has reshaped the hierarchy in goal at Lens. For Koffi, at the peak of his career, another year waiting on the bench is not an option.

So the road bends towards Brussels.

Belgium is no unknown adventure for Koffi. It is where he built his reputation in Europe, where cold nights and tight pitches hardened his game and sharpened his decision-making.

Now, Union Saint-Gilloise are ready to hand him an even bigger platform.
