Florentino Perez is moving into election mode, and at Real Madrid that rarely means posters and slogans. It means a galáctico. Or at least the promise of one.

This time, the name at the centre of the storm is Vitinha.

According to Cadena SER, the PSG midfielder has surged to the front of Perez’s plans as the headline act in a pre-election power play. The Real Madrid president is said to be preparing a €150 million move for a “star player” ahead of Sunday’s vote, and Spanish journalist Pacojo Delgado insists that Vitinha is the man he has in mind.

The profile fits the moment. Vitinha has grown into one of PSG’s most influential players, a technical hub with bite, and he is tied down in Paris for another three years. That contract length, his status in the squad, and PSG’s financial strength all point in the same direction: any deal would be brutally complicated and staggeringly expensive.

That, of course, is exactly the kind of stage Perez has always liked.

A €150m statement

Perez has already set the financial tone himself. On Thursday evening, he stated in an interview that he would soon announce a €150m bid for a marquee signing. He also made clear who it would not be, ruling out Harry Kane, Erling Haaland and Michael Olise.

The elimination game narrows the field. Delgado has gone further, naming Vitinha as the player on the president’s mind and framing the move not just as a transfer, but as a decisive blow in the presidential race.

“If Florentino wants to settle the elections, the announcement of Vitinha would be the final blow. A knockout without even reaching Sunday,” Delgado said. In Madrid politics, that is not hyperbole. A €150m commitment for a 24-year-old Portuguese international in his prime would scream ambition, control and continuity all at once.

Mourinho, Mendes and the new midfield

This pursuit is not just about the ballot box. It is tied to the broader project expected to begin with Jose Mourinho’s return to the Bernabeu.

Vitinha is seen as a potential centrepiece in a rebuilt midfield under his compatriot, a player who can dictate rhythm, press with intelligence and carry the ball through tight spaces. In a Mourinho team, that kind of fulcrum is non‑negotiable. While Vitinha would be the jewel in the crown, the rest of the project is already being sketched out.

Reports claim Real Madrid have moved to secure Ibrahima Konaté on a free transfer, a significant defensive reinforcement if completed. Denzel Dumfries is also expected to arrive after the club triggered his €20m release clause, adding power and depth on the right flank.
