Hansi Flick Confident Lamine Yamal Is Regaining Top Form Ahead of Rayo Vallecano Match

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has expressed strong belief that teenager Lamine Yamal is regaining his best form after overcoming a tough spell marked by injury and international duties. The German manager highlighted how the young winger is rediscovering his joy on the pitch following a lengthy recovery from a hamstring injury.

The Long Road Back After Injury and World Cup Demands

Flick sought to ease concerns among fans about Yamal’s current condition, emphasizing that the 19-year-old is close to returning fully fit. After suffering a serious hamstring injury in April, Yamal’s season began quietly, but signs of his talent surfaced during the recent win against Athletic Bilbao. Flick feels the player is steadily moving in the right direction as Barcelona prepares to face Rayo Vallecano.

“I know everyone is worried about how Lamine is doing. He played a World Cup after a big injury,” Flick said. “Now he’s coming back after three weeks holiday, and the first game maybe wasn’t his best. But I was happy he started and worked for the team.”

Building Fitness Through Game Time

Integral to Yamal’s comeback has been getting consistent minutes in matches. Flick praised the winger for completing a full 90 minutes against Athletic Bilbao, noting it was important for his fitness and confidence.

“He played 90 minutes against Bilbao. For him, it’s good to have that on the pitch right now. We saw him at a top level in some moments. Today in training, you couldn’t see it, but I saw it and it was excellent. Everyone loves Lamine and he’s in a good place. We have to support him and we do.”

Psychological Lift Boosting Barcelona’s Young Star

Beyond physical recovery, Flick pointed out the positive change in Yamal’s mood. After looking frustrated early in the season opener versus Elche, the player has since been smiling more in training, an encouraging sign for someone whose creativity depends on confidence.

“It’s always good when players are smiling, though not every day is the same. I’m not smiling every day either,” Flick commented.

Squad Depth and Striker Situation

While Yamal remains a key focus, Flick also addressed the broader squad, particularly the forward line. Due to missing out on signing Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid, Raphinha has been deployed as a makeshift striker. Flick reassured that he trusts the squad's quality and the club’s efforts to strengthen the team behind the scenes.

“Of course, I’m happy with my team. Deco is working on strengthening it. We don’t feel pressure,” Flick stated.
