Flick Aims for Quick Adeyemi Transfer Before Pre-Season

Hansi Flick does not want his first Barcelona pre-season to begin with maybes. He wants Karim Adeyemi on the pitch, in his drills, in his plans – and he wants it by Monday.

Barcelona’s move for the Borussia Dortmund winger has already shaken up the early summer market. A formal bid is on the table, and Adeyemi is understood to be keen on swapping yellow and black for Blaugrana colours at Camp Nou.

According to Gerard Romero, Flick “hopes that Adeyemi will be with the group on Monday at the start of the Blaugrana preseason.” That is an aggressive timeline for any major transfer, never mind one involving Dortmund, a club not exactly known for rushing out the door with their assets.

The calendar adds urgency. Barcelona’s squad is due back next week to launch pre-season, but Flick will be missing a raft of headline names, with many still at World Cup 2026 or on an extended break after their involvement. The new coach faces the prospect of opening his Barça tenure with a skeleton group.

That makes Adeyemi more than just another signing. He would be a focal point of those first sessions, a key attacking reference while the established stars filter back in dribs and drabs.

Crucially for Barcelona, the hardest part of many deals appears to be done. Adeyemi has reportedly already agreed personal terms with the club. The framework is there; what remains is the battle of numbers between Barcelona and Dortmund over the transfer fee.

Flick’s insistence is not born from guesswork. He knows exactly what he would be getting. The German coach worked with Adeyemi during his spell in charge of the national team and has already seen the winger’s pace, direct running and vertical threat at close quarters. At 24, Adeyemi fits the profile of a player who can grow with Flick’s project rather than simply decorate it.

Barcelona, though, still have to navigate the final stretch of negotiations. They want Adeyemi in the dressing room by Monday. Dortmund want to be properly paid. Between those two positions lies the first real test of how quickly Flick’s Barcelona can turn intent into action.
