Ferran Torres Pursues PSG Move Amid Barcelona Talks

Paris Saint-Germain are closing in on one of their headline targets of the summer, with Ferran Torres making it clear he wants his next chapter to be in Paris.

The Barcelona forward has told those closest to him that he intends to join the European champions, a stance he has also shared with several teammates in the dressing room, according to French outlet Foot Mercato. Once that message filtered upstairs, it forced a shift in tone at board level. Barcelona’s hierarchy, previously resistant, have now signalled they are prepared to listen to offers.

The two clubs are expected to sit down early next week to work through a structure for the deal. No agreement is in place yet, but the lines of communication are open and active.

PSG ready to outmuscle Barça

Spanish newspaper Sport reported that PSG have already reassured Torres they are willing to surpass any contract-renewal proposal Barcelona might put on the table. The French club believe they can win the race for his signature and are acting like it.

Luis Enrique needs a new forward after the departure of Gonçalo Ramos, and Torres has emerged as one of the coach’s priority names. His appeal is obvious: he can lead the line through the middle, drift in from either flank, and adapt to the constant positional rotations that define Enrique’s attacking blueprint.

The timing is no coincidence. Torres is coming off his best season in a Barcelona shirt, hitting 16 goals and providing two assists in 33 La Liga appearances. His club form ran parallel to a starring role on the international stage, where he delivered the decisive goal in Spain’s 2026 World Cup final win over Argentina.

At 25, he fits the sweet spot for PSG’s project: young enough to grow with the team, experienced enough to handle the weight of a star-studded squad and the demands of a club chasing every trophy on offer.

A growing Barcelona–Paris transfer corridor

Should PSG and Barcelona finalise terms, Torres would become the second player in six months to make the journey from Catalonia to the French capital, following rising prospect Drew Fernández. Ousmane Dembélé made the same move three seasons earlier, blazing a trail that is starting to look less like an exception and more like a pattern.
