The relief around the England camp is tangible. Kane remains the reference point for everything Tuchel wants in the final third: the link play, the penalty-box menace, the cold, reliable finishing. When he is on the pitch, the rest of the attack falls into place.

Ghana will ask different questions to Croatia. They will bring more direct power, more broken-field moments, more willingness to turn the match into a physical contest.
